The writing of this particular book was okay, but there was nothing that made it really worthwhile. The future-ish model was off, I felt. 70 years in the future according to Ms. Zevin is going to be a less digitalized now with a few shortages and a lot more mob action.
The story wasn't very believable, the characters weren't engaging, and the cliff-hanger was blunt. I'd like a little more closure, even in an intentionally-created series.
