This is a set of short stories which are mostly inspired by letters or newspaper clippings from the past. 'Onward' was definitely my favorite of these short stories, but I enjoyed all of them. 'Onward' is about a "fallen lady" who has a young daughter. She and her brother work to sustain the family, and cannot quite do it.
