I received an advance galley of this book through NetGalley. The author, Kevin Crossley-Holland, mentions at the end that his intent with this collection was to take old tales and reclothe them in clean, bright, direct language. He succeeded. The collection flows between England and Ireland and all around the isles, and includes tales unfamiliar and familiar.
