Burning the Line Author: Carmelina Mercurio ARC Review: 4.25 ⭐/5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Tropes: - Forbidden Romance - Slow Burn - Age Gap - Professor × Student - Small Town × Big City - Kink Positivity - Woman-Obsessed - Protective MMC - Forced Proximity - Contemporary Romance --- ARC Review: If you add a forbidden fruit, a whole lot of burning temptation and simmer it on a slow flame of chemistry you'll get the perfect recipe for Burning the Line. Leighton Wilford is a last year English lit student who wants nothing more than to land a paid internship and graduate from University without any kind of drama. Her plans for graduating with an uneventful year goes down the drain the moment she sees who her new Professor is. Grant Barrett is a 39 year old English literature professor, always an epitome of professionalism and focused on his rewarding job. To him nothing is more important than his being a college professor and sharing his love for literature by teaching. So when he laid his eyes on one of his young students, he starts to question whether it's all he wants from his life? Burning the Line is basically about blurring the lines of professionalism between the professor and the student who can't get each other out of their heads from the moment they seem to be captivated by each other. The author does a great job in building tension between the two with continuous pull and push of dilemma between wanting what they want and doing what's right. Another thing I adored about the characters is their growth, the connection and the healing journey. I was so happy when I realised the significance of butterflies on the cover! Oh, and please check the trigger warnings because this book also explores the topics of parental grief and loss. So if you love a book which is a perfect combination of slow burn romance, forbidden temptations and the "fuck it" moment, this is for you! Don't forget to save the date of 22 November on your calendars. 📆
