I'm a bit embarrased to say it, but this almost earns 4 stars. Trust me, I'm as shocked as you are! My expectation of this book was to have a simple girl placed back in regency times and have a mini Austen-esque adventure. What I got was a a girl who had been around adjusting poorly to the propriety of the era. Early on someone proposes to her, and her response is, "But we haven't even slept together!" So let's boil it down: Likes *The plot is unexpected. Near the end I thought that there surely must be a sequel, because nothing is close to being wrapped up. *There are no slow points, which really suprised me for a book like this. Dislikes *There were a few awkwardnesses, like when Jane/Courtney tried to introduce herself to Jane Austen. It wasn't necessary for the plot, and the whole conversation was just painful. *I didn't much care for Jane/Courtney, and I felt that most characters were lackluster.
