I absolutely loved A Crown of Chains!
As I read ACoC, I couldn't help but put myself in Roxana Willows' shoes. As with all of us, things beyond our control happen and we must choose how to respond to them. I admire Roxana's courage, and her determination to stick to her convictions in a world that was not kind to her or her people.
This is wonderful story about overcoming adversity, rekindling faith, and blooming where you are planted.
Roxanna didn't choose her life, but her life circumstances led her to a position where she could help many people.
For me, Erin's use of biblical context in this retelling brought new life and meaning to the book of Esther. A Crown of Chains gives a fictional look into the political climate and the realities Esther may have faced during her reign as queen. Like Esther and Roxana, though we may not fully understand why we go through difficult situations, we can be confident that God is working behind the scenes.
If you love fantasies, political intrigue, magical/ mythical creatures, characters with deep backgrounds, and unique world-building, you will love A Crown of Chains!
