Latitudes South

In 1959 the author, Barry Smith, spent a summer on a manhauling expedition to the area just east of the mighty Beardmore Glacier, in Antarctica. The expedition was the first to visit the area since Scott and, at 84ºS, discovered the furthest south invertebrate life on the planet at the time.
