Maneater Author: Morgan Elizabeth Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️.15 Tropes: - workplace - contemporary romance - he falls first and harder - it's always been "you" - suspense/mystery - PI fmc - grumpy × sunshine - hate to love - forced proximity Book Review: Maneater by Morgan Elizabeth Ever wondered what would happen if you mixed a 90s rom-com with a badass private investigator FMC and a few juicy mystery twists? No? Well, allow me to introduce you to Maneater by Morgan Elizabeth. It’s a perfect blend of slow burn, forced proximity, hate-to-love tension, and those sweet, sweet romantic moments that make you want to kick your feet and scream into a pillow. Oh, and did I mention? Even the universe gets tired of waiting for these two idiots to get together and traps them on a secluded luxury resort island for two whole weeks. Because of course it does. Josephine “Josie” Montgomery is a private investigator with a talent for one thing i.e acting like she doesn’t have a clue. Her specialty? Turning charm and flirtation into weapons to uncover the darkest secrets of her targets. No one ever sees her coming. But when she checks into Daydream Resorts on her latest case, she’s not expecting him. Rowan Fisher, on the other hand, is all business. As the Vice President of Daydream Resorts, his life revolves around two things: his work and keeping his luxury hotel at the top of its game. That is, until someone tries to sabotage everything he’s built and Josie arrives, turning his perfectly organized world upside down. When Josie checks in as a guest, Rowan can’t quite decide if she’s a distraction or a dangerous temptation. He knows better than to get involved yet there’s something about her that pulls him in. And the more he learns, the clearer it becomes that Josie Montgomery is far more than the playful, man-eating guest she pretends to be. What starts as suspicion and banter slowly turns into undeniable chemistry, and Rowan soon realizes there’s much more to Josie than her playful, maneater persona. Beneath the teasing smiles and sharp comebacks lies a woman he can’t resist (or forget). Maneater is a perfect blend of slow burn, forced proximity, a little bit of mystery, hate to love and sweet sweet romantic mments which will have you blushing, giggling, kicking your feet in air, clutching your heart or anything you can think of along these lines. If you love a book that gives a 90s rom-com vibes, swoony mmc, and little bit of mystery in the mix then get this book!
