My Phony Valentine is a cute, small town, fake dating, sports romance which I instantly fell in love with.
The story starts with Poppy Hart lying about dating a man, who happens to be a famous hockey player of Chicago Comets, Dallas Burke who much to his amusement, jumps in and plays along her little lie to escape an old acquaintance.
Poppy Hart is the chef in small town called Loveland where she owns a restaurant. Being knee deep in debt and constant topic of town's gossip, she is focused on only one thing and that is trying to keep her restaurant afloat. But that changes after she grabs a hockey player, quite literally who turns her life upside down.
Dallas Burke, haunted by a traumatic accident and messy past, conveys a persona of bad boy. His said image seems to do more damage than good makes him desperate to escape the constant scrutiny of media and paparazzis.
What starts as Poppy's seemingly small lie ends up as a mutually beneficial deal between her and Dallas.
The book has little to no spice, but it sure is slow burn which leaves you yearning for more. The connection between the characters is perfect! *chef's kiss* .The way Dallas craves her presence omg what I wouldn't give to have him!
This is a perfect book for anyone who loves slow burn, fake dating, cute, small town, sports romance!!
