This one ended so unexpectedly, and I was so sad. I felt quite in tune with this book emotionally and very much enjoyed the women and relationships portrayed here. I was hooked when Claude cried, and I clung to this book even after I was finished with it.

Still a wonderful book, but be prepared for a rich but depressing read. Not recommended for winter reading. Also, very descriptive rape scene that I had forgotten about. Not pleasant.
