I hate ratings things this low, but I really just did not enjoy this book at all. I’ve seen the movie and thought it was super interesting. I didn’t realize the book was going to be told entirely from the perspective of a 5 year old child, and I hated it tbh. I kept hoping it would switch to his moms perspective, but it never did. It was an interesting story I just didn’t like the delivery and it also got pretty repetitive at times. Not to mention the amount of questions this child asked. I have a rambunctious and curious kid myself, but I would lose my mind over the sheer amount of questions Jack asked every minute. If felt overwhelming sometimes. Anywho. Wasn’t for me.
I can't believe that I haven't reviewed this book! Normally when I love books like I love this one, I've practically written the review before I've finished reading the book!
Room is one the best books I've read this year. The whole story is told from the viewpoint of a boy who is born into captivity. His mother was abducted when she was in college, and she spends her life protecting him from the truth of their dire situation.
To this boy, Room is all that he knows. He and his mother play various games all day. The way in which this woman copes with her circumstances amazes me.
