The cover of this book caught my eye at the bookstore & I am so glad I stopped to pick it up. It has been a long time since I have read a historical fiction book this well written, if ever. It was impossible to put down! I was not overly familiar with Emma of Normandy, but I had heard of her. Such an amazing life she led & I'm so glad Patricia chose her for the subject of her trilogy. I'm looking forward to her upcoming books & can not wait to continue Emma's story. The Shadow of the Crown will draw you in with it's amazing characters & incredibly vivid story line. Historical fiction has an amazing new voice in Patricia Bracewell.
