Buh.
Okay, so Claire gives birth to a son in a dystopian community. Her baby will be sent to the nurturing center to await assignment to a spousal unit that has applied for a child. Meanwhile, Claire is decertified as a birthgiver, and sent to a fish hatchery to work.
No one thought to have her start taking The Pills again, however, and so she is filled with longing for her child.
It's a basis for a good book, but the interesting bits of the story are skimmed over, however there is a lot of detail about what exercises Claire is doing and the colors that she is learning.
It's a decent story, but I'm not a fan of the way that it's told.
And one last thing- If each birthmother gives birth to 3 children, that means that 66% of the girls in the community will need to be birth mothers in order to keep up the population. And yet it's a dishonor. Buh.
