I feel as though I would put this book in a category with [b:Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption|8664353|Unbroken A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption|Laura Hillenbrand|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1327861115s/8664353.jpg|12946965], because while there is a faith aspect to the book, it is not painfully twisted in or rubbed in the reader's face.
Things I liked:
*Nurse Lee had attended several Russian Orthodox services and loved them for the beauty. She is right- you can never get the beauty out of your head.
*I never felt as though the East Enders were looked-down-upon by the narrator, at least not in particular. There are instances of prejudice, classism and snobbery, but the people are discussed in a fair light.
*I really enjoyed 'watching' Nurse Lee's spiritual growth.
Things I wasn't fond of:
*The BBC series is a thing you can watch with your Aunt and Grandmother. The book is not that way. I would not call this a clean read.
