3.75⭐️I LOVE dystopia and I honestly was hooked from the beginning on this one. I think Jess Lourey does a really amazing job writing semi-creepy atmospheric thrillers, so seeing that put into a dystopian novel was really fun! It def gives some classic dystopia vibes like maze runner & hunger games, but the story is unique on its own! It is definitely YA and I think if I had read this in high school, I would’ve rated it even higher. Minimum cussing. Some kissing, but nothing overly steamy or descriptive. Quite a bit of violence & death. One issue I did have with the book is that it seemed like the fmc would CLEARLY figure out a piece of the puzzle, so my brain is like “ooooh okay now we know.” But then later it gets like OFFICIALLY confirmed and she’s shocked again? Like sis I thought we already figured this out 3 chapters ago lol.
