I did not expect to like this book. When a book receives as much advertizing as this one did, I start to have my suspicions. But since it was recommended to me by KDL, and since it was available on audiobook, I thought I'd give it a try.
All I have to say is that it's a lovely book. The reader is very talented, and I particularly liked the way that she read Bee.
So content. Let's do likes and dislikes:
Likes:
*Bernadette was very unique and believable.
*The situations that occurred were beautiful. You knew what conclusions were being made by each party involved because you had that insight.
*Bee is a cool kid! I love that she loves her mom so much, and that she understands her.
Dislikes:
*Money, everywhere. This family is unbelievably well-off, and it annoys me.
*In the very beginning I feel that the family chemistry is misrepresented. Mom and Dad seem aloof and uninterested and Bee seems like a brat. This is not the case. The rest of the book does a great job of dispelling my immediate reaction.
I would recommend this to anyone. It would make a great beach read.
