So I'll be honest I never realized the Fords were never publicly voted in by the country (not even as Vice President) but were voted in by Congress and when the the public had a chance to vote them elected not to vote them into office. Yet in the short time they were in office (due to circumstances well outside their control) they still made their mark on history. Betty Ford doing the job she originally didn't want so well that she was more popular than her husband.
I absolutely loved the look at Gerald and Betty's relationship, at Betty's attitude torward social matters and how she dealt with health matters and substance abuse. She was an amazing woman and this book really taught me a lot about her.
