ohhhhhhh my heart 😭😭 my dear Circe, you’ll go down in infamy. 🫶🏼🏝️

This was a beautiful dip into greek mythology. Madeline does an amazing job drawing from Greek myths to tell Circe's story from her own point of view

Book: Circe Author: Madeline Miller Review: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐/5 Tropes: - Greek mythology - Self discovery - Coming of age - Womanhood - Strong FMC - Childhood Trauma - Sexual Assault Circe is a slow paced greek mythology book based on the greek goddess Circe, flawed child of Helios whom he was often ashamed of, who was banished from Mount Olympus and was forced into exile by Zeus out of fear and punishment. Circe was exiled to live on an island Aiaia where Helios used to send creatures for punishment after Zeus & Helios feared her powers as a witch. Shrouded by the loneliness on an island she had nothing to do but to explore the place and herself from within. She learns about her powers, wielding them, strengthening them with her experiences both good and bad, testing her spells and all the magic she could conjure up. Despite the exile, Circe had fleets of ships and people coming in and out of her life and island teaching her about interactions with gods, mortals and warriors which often leave her cold and second guessing about herself. Her life on island broke my heart with the horrors she experienced whether it be abandonment or assault. What I loved how she learnt to protect herself, the lengths she went to protect her son and unlike other gods she didn't enjoy the glory. Throughout the book I thought things weren't going to get better it just kept breaking me mending me then breaking me again. I was almost convinced that there might not be happy ending for and she's just an unfortunate god who is forced to walk on earth alone for eternity. But author proved me wrong and and mended my heart in best way possible. I loved the ending because Circe deserves all the love! I don't think I'll ever stop recommending this book to anyone ever ❤️
