So I randomly pucked this up after a friend named it her top read for March. I knew absolutely nothing about it except that my friend really enjoyed it and went in blind. It was so worth it.
I am not Dominican nor have I ever been, but I connected so hard to our main character, Ana, for so many other reasons. It just goes to show no matter what our upbringings or lifestyles we all have things we can agree on.
Cruz does an amazing job telling a fictional story but throwing in references to history that makes it seem like a true story. I did the audiobook and the narrator does an amazing job bring Ana's voice to life and making it feel like she's telling you the story.
