If you want to have an informed opinion on Somalia, Muslims, and Immigrantion when it comes to them I recommend this book.
I don't usually speed thru non-fiction books as they're generally very dry and factual, but Ayaan caught you up in her story, how she was raised, how her birth country operated, her religion, her beliefs, how she learned, how she changed and how she wasn't defined by what had happened to her, but her mental capabilities, arguments and choices she made.
Before I read this book I had opinions about Muslims and Somalians, but until this book they were vague and not well-formed. Now I can formulate an opinion based on a strong, brave woman who was willing to go against everything she was raised in to form a better world.
