I was really moved by how artfully and realistically the author/illustrator portrays Karen's reasons for her 'bad behavior' (to get her parents to talk to each other about her, in the hope that they will get married again) so that both kids and adults can understand what might motivate a child to act out. The story does resolve itself and things settle in a realistic way. I think this book would be great not only for recreational reading but also as a tool to help kids through dif
