Listen, I fell in love with the way Jazlen writes and the way she tells stories with her debut novella, Lo, Streyga, so when she said she was writing a full length I was so excited. She did not fail either. This was such a strong story, and I'm both happy and sad it's book 1 because I get more, but also... that ending!?!? What a doozy. If you want an apocalyptic thriller with some romance, then you need to read this. The religious themes especially I think Jazlen dealt with in a fantastic way for a post nuclear war story. *Spoilers* I absolutely loved Jovie. In the beginning, she was a bit meek, and I wasn't sure where it would go, but then she came out of her shell and is such a badass female main character. The way she dealt with her faith and adjusted her beliefs in the face of the world was fantastic. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Jovie grows into her own even more in book 2. Uriel was delicious as well and so fantastic. I loved how he saw something in Jovie and supported her as her worldview changed. The relationship between the two of them was beautiful, and I'm so happy they found each other. Now listen, I absolutely hated Michealis and Dante... I also fully hate Sylvan, and he deserved what he got imo
