Such an amazing fictional story of a woman in the 50s when being the uktimate wife and mother was the expectation of women and if you stepped out of line you were accused of hysteria. I definitely saw the influences of The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath in this novel. It also heavily reminded me of The Woman They Could Not Silence by Kate Moore. While The Woman They Could Not Silence is about a real woman in the 1860s and not the 1950s it shows how common it was to shut women away when their husbands couldn't control them any longer... or just wanted them gone. Fully recommend it.
