Review: Of the many writers who attempted to write John-Carter-of-Mars-like novels, this one (and Warrior of Llarn) comes closest to emulating Edgar Rice Burroughs. This one is more original than the first in the series, which is relief, since the Sword-and-Planet genre certainly didn't produce much in originality. Fun all of the way through to the end. It's very unfortunate that Gardner didn't write any more of these, since he was pretty good at it. The story arc ended in this bo
